The " Rombo Estrella " patch is handwoven by women from the " Jolom Mayaetik " cooperative in the highlands of Chiapas using a complex and unique "Maya brocade technique". Using a traditional weaving tool made of sticks, ropes and a strap, the women slowly weave the fabric over the course of several weeks, simultaneously adding extra weft threads, which are used to create the traditional "Rombo" diamond pattern from Mayan mythology. The diamond is a central symbol from the historic Mayan mythology and is associated with the four cardinal directions.
